Maddie

Today my dear friend, Maddie graduated from high school!! I was going to do a post for her birthday two weeks ago but I was traveling so I was unable to do it. So to make up for it I am doing a post for her graduation.
Maddie and I have been best friends since we were both 7. Our dads worked at the same school and were part of starting the same church. Maddie and I are a like in ways but we are also very different in ways. We both are the oldest in large families (so we know what all those responsibilities are like) We were both saved around the same time and were baptized on the same day (in our jacuzzi which served as the church baptismal for many years) We both are big readers and dreamers. We have a passion for cooking (and we are both about equally messy in the kitchen!! See, I am not alone) We love the outdoors. We love to travel, explore and have adventures. We are music fanatics and that might be an understatement. We both enjoy discussing the Bible and things about God and even though we agree on pretty much everything in that area we still practice our apologetic s tactics on each other :):P I won't really go into our differences because we don't like to dwell there but I will say that the saying "opposites attract" (actually it is not just a saying, it is a scientific law. Physics) is true in our case and we compliment each other perfectly despite our differences. Maddie has taught me a lot about living life to the fullest and fearing God rather than man. She helped me out of my extreme shyness and helped me learn to be outgoing and friendly.
Almost 3 years ago Maddie moved from Oakhurst to Flagstaff. We had to learn how to keep up a close friendship over hundreds of miles. We have sent each other lots of letters, hundreds of emails and we are racking up the numbers on texts :):) We have also spent a lot of hours on the phone (though in my opinion twice a month for about 45 minutes is not nearly enough)
Here are some pictures of us together.

This is us at a pilgrim feast and a colonial feast we did for history. We also did an Egyptian feast and a medieval one but I couldn't find the pictures from those. I will have to look a little harder.

Us trying on fun hats. Aren't they (the hats) cute?

Congratulations on your graduation, Maddie!!! You are an wonderful  friend.

Day 22

Day 22
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!

"It is good to give thanks to the Lord And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;"
Psalm 92:1

O.K I was going to post a picture of the cake I was decorating tonight but... ummmm ..... it is shall we say, not picture worthy. Neither is our kitchen which means after I finish this I have to go wash dishes *sigh* So needless to say I had to come up with another picture for today and if you want to see my cake you will have to come to church tomorrow. My mom tells me that my problem is that I was trying to decorate it at 10:00 at night. I hope she is right.

P.S. I will try to find something besides the 313 project to blog about soon.

Day 21

Day 21
 Childish Toys

Do you ever wish you could return to those wonderful days when watching a plastic animal go in circles was so entertaining?

Day 20

Day 20

Day 19
Handwritten Joy

I LOVE receiving handwritten letters in the mail. If you want to make my day (or anyone elses' for that matter) send me (or them) a handwritten letter.

"Like cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a distant land."
Proverbs 25:25

Day 18

Day 18

"If you smile at someone, they might smile back."

"A smile confuses an approaching frown."

"Today, give a stranger one of your smiles.  It might be the only sunshine he sees all day. "

" A smile is a powerful weapon; you can even break ice with it"

Day 17

Day 17

"Friends are those rare people who ask how you are and then wait for the answer. "

Day 16

Day 16
Bread Alone

"Man can not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord."

Day 15

So much for being caught up. After I posted last I experienced technical difficulties that made it so I couldn't post. Oh the joys and sorrows of technology. I have a love hate relationship with it. Anyways today my dad solved all my problems so that I can post now. Aren't dads wonderful??
Day 15
Colorful Cupcakes!!!

Hannah made these cupcakes and she decorated them so I can take not credit for how lovely they look.

Day 14

Day 14
Keep your perspective up!!!

Can you guess what this is???

*sigh of relief* oh the wonderful feeling of being caught up on something. :):)

Day 13

Day 13
My Favorite Flower

Carnations are my favorite flowers. Any color any size they are my favorite. They are closely followed by roses and daisies but that is besides the point. This particular carnation is in a bouquet dad gave to mom for Mother's Day. Any bouquet of flowers that comes into the house I thoroughly photograph so that it will be remembered forever.

Day 12

Day 12
Laughing Lassie

This is my favorite model in the whole wide world. She is so cooperative and natural. Of course I haven't taken very many posed portraits of other people but still she is my favorite of the ones I have taken pictures of. All this to say you will probably see a lot more pictures of her during this project. Hope ya don't mind. :)

Day 11

Day 11
                                                                      Blue and White!!!
(very original title I know but I couldn't think of anything more creative.)

This is a picture of me and some of my siblings with our friends the Mayers ( some of them at least) We learned a song in sign language together and performed it for the MHS talent show. It was a lot of fun. We all matched outfits as you can see. We even all went barefoot :):) that took some convincing for some people. :) Before the show we went outside with our wonderful friend Hannah III who took pictures with my camera of us together. Thank you very much, Hannah III !!!!  In the picture from left to right are Trevor, Hannah, Scott, Lily, Sean, me and Morgan.

Day 10

Day 10
Lonely Leaf

This leaf amused me. It was growing all by itself at the bottom of one of our trees. It looked so lonely yet it was rather funny seeing it in a random place all by itself.  It was funny to me at least. :)

Day 9

Day 9
     Cousins!!
Actually I didn't take this picture (obviously since I am in it) but I did my camera all set up and my aunt just pressed the button. :) I think all my cousins are adorable. Hannah and I had so much fun down in San Diego last week.

Day 8

Day 8
Cuteness in a bundle

This is my cousin Paige. She is 10 months old and I think she is the most adorable, cuddly and chubby 10 month old little girl in the whole world. But then I might just be biased since she is my cousin. What do you think?

Day 7

   Day 7

                                                                    Sunrise, Sunset!!!
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west

It has been one of my goals in photography to take a sun rise picture at the Atlantic Ocean and a sunset picture at the Pacific ocean. last week I accomplished that goal!! *applause* The sun rise picture I took in October when we were visiting my grandparents in NC. You can see some of the other pictures I got here.
I took the sunset picture last week when we were visiting my aunt and uncle down in San Diego. It is cool to see how different the colors are between when the sun is rising and when it is setting. It also looks like the sun grew throughout the day!! :)

Day 6

Day 6
                                                      Enjoying a thunderstorm together!!!

On Tuesday we had an awesome thunderstorm at our house. The thunder and lightening were SO close!! It went on for about two hours. Hannah, Brendan and I were the only ones at home and we thoroughly enjoyed the storm!!

Day 5

O.K I have not forgotten about the 313 project though I haven't posted any pictures for 8 days. YIKES!!!! I have been super busy and I also went on a short trip so I have an excuse. :):) Anyways here is my Day 5 picture.
                                                                           I love you!!
Hannah wrote that with glow sticks!! We had so much fun together playing with glow sticks last week. :):) This was our first attempt to draw with them for a picture. We are going to try again sometime and hopefully get clearer results.

Day 4

Day 4
The fate of yesterday's strawberries; STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE CAKE!!!!

As you might have noticed, I love strawberries. They are, in my opinion, the summeriest fruit; even more so than watermelon. Today for dessert Hannah and I made the Pioneer Woman's strawberry shortcake cake recipe. It was amazing. You should try it if you can. The only thing we changed was instead of covering the whole cake with her frosting we just put some in the middle and then covered the whole cake with whipped cream. YUMMY!!!

313 Project

I have wanted to do a year long photo project for a while, but when I started seriously thinking about it I was well into January; kind of late to begin on the traditional January first. My friend, Haley, also had been wanting to do a 313 photo project so we decided to do one together. We also decided that we would be unique and start on May 1st; so here it goes.
We will be posting a picture every day or once a week (with 6 pictures). I am looking forward to the chance to experiment with my camera a bit.

Here is my picture for the day.
                                                                             Day 1

(There is a reason I didn't use my camera, but that is another story for another time, and I have to go get ready for prayer meeting)
