People start to emerge early in the morning. It is a beautiful day, nice and misty.

My friend, Haley, and I went on a early morning walk up on the mountain. It was absolutely beautiful.

The Man in the Family

This morning Daddy gave a message titled The Man in the Family. In his message he called men to lead their families with love. He defined how a man is to lead and what his responsibilities are.

The audience listened with rapt attention. :)

The Sound of the Trumpet Conference!!

Yesterday was the first day of the Sound of the Trumpet conference in Orange Cove. We gathered at our friends, the Parish's, forty acre ranch. Last night for the opening sessions Mr. Wales spoke on Men at Work. he talked about the true meaning of work, the whys of work and the how of work.

After the session everyone stayed late talking and fellowshiping. I am glad because there are alot of my friends here. There are a lot of people helping make everything run. I am helping with registration, which I really enjoy.

Ten P's In a Pod

My family loves to travel around the country. All nine of us fit into our fifteen passenger van, with our utility trailer attached to the back. Inside we cram everything we need for our five or six weeks of travel. Oh yes, we get funny looks when we pull into a gas station or rest stop and our van seems to explode, children, books, shoes, water bottles and pillows tumble out. But we have lots of fun.

In the book, Ten P's In a Pod  by Arnold Pent III, you meet one of "America's first modern homeschool families." This family of ten traveled around the country in the 1950's, before the days of fifteen passenger vans and trailers. They traveled in two station wagons and a beat up pick up truck, sharing the gospel through music and reciting scripture. Arnold Pent II led his family in family devotions three times a day, thus many of the children had most of the Bible memorized. This family performed at hundreds of churches all over the U.S. and they were broadcast on the radio and television. In their travels the Pents had many faith testing and often hilarious adventures. There were times when they simply had no more money to go on. Then there was the time they were snowed in and had nothing to eat but beans. The Pents were a godly family, full of life, who are an example to many christian, homeschool families today. Your faith will be strengthened as you read this humorous yet insightful story.

Yummy Oatmeal Muffins

My friend, Annie, gave me this recipe a couple of years ago. No one in me family really likes oatmeal (except for my mom) but everyone loves these muffins. They are a great way to get rid of leftover oatmeal. You can add your favorite dried or fresh fruit to make them unique.

Oatmeal Muffins

2 cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
1 cup oil
4 eggs
2 cups leftover oatmeal
1 cup fruit of choice
2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. In another bowl mix all the rest of the ingredients. Combine them together. Stir till combined but do not over mix. Scoop into well greased muffin tins. Bake for 18 minutes at 350.
Enjoy!!

Variation: Mix in 2 mashed bananas and 2 cups blueberries. These are my brothers favorite. Especially if I brush the tops with melted butter and brown sugar. :)
Mom will sometimes treat us with coconut and chocolate chips. Yum!!

It Snowed!!

This winter has been a rather warm winter. We have not had hardly any rain or snow all winter. But yesterday morning we were pleasantly surprised to wake up to four inches of snow! Everything was absolutely beautiful all covered in whiteness.

"For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth.' and to the downpour and the rain, 'Be strong,'"
Job 37:6

" He gives snow like wool; he scatters the frost like ashes. He casts forth the ice as fragments; who can stand before his cold?"
Psalm 147: 16 and 17

" Though your sins be as scarlet, they will be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they will be like wool."
Isaiah 1:19

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering
the earths and making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55 : 10 - 11

A little creature visited us in the night, :)

Thank you to my sister, Hannah, who took these beautiful pictures.
