Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentines Day, y'all!!!  It is every single person's favorite holiday..... not.  Since I have no "special someone" in my life i am spending my day at dance and violin practice and spending time with my family. oh yeah, and eating lots of chocolate all by myself ;)

Since I was about 15 or 16 I have been asked regularly if I have a boyfriend or if I had my eye on any one. That question used to really bother me for some unknown reason. But now when people ask me that I just smile and tell them, "no because I would rather wait for one VERY special person than mess around with a lot of only sorta special people." After that they usually give me a blank stare unless they are older then they say "Good for you. I wish my granddaughters thought of that." or something to that effect.
All this to say, my decision not to have a whole bunch of boyfriends before I find "the one" is not a very popular one in our culture. I think that in our culture romance, marriage and relationships are so tweaked, messed up and trivialized by sin. I mean, look at how high the divorce rate is in our country and how many people aren't married till they are in their thirties. I think it shows you that something is seriously wrong with how we do this whole thing.
If you listened to the song I posted with this then you would hear the lady calling for a return to the old ways of romance. Back when Christ was at the center of our relationships and marriages, where we respected each other and where pure hearted romance wasn't laughed at. When you saved yourself  for one special person. Back when guys tried to win girls hearts with gallant behavior and patient courting. I move that we all go back to a time of love letters, asking the dad's permission, flowers and accountability. There is something so lovely sounding about a pure hearted, slightly old fashioned romance. It is something worth waiting for.

So girls, if you don't have a boyfriend, husband, significant other , etc. don't be bothered by that. I can almost guarantee that he is out there and that he is worth waiting for. Waiting for him and not messing around with other guys will save you from alot of heartbreak. Yeah, sometimes heartbreak is unavoidable but I think that the way our culture does dating fosters a lot more heart break than necessary.(just judging by all the quotes on Pinterest about dealing with heartbreak it seems to be a pretty prevalent problem) Stay accountable and in communication with your parents. They want the very best for you and have alot of good advice. Someday some dashing (or normal) guy is going to come and sweep you off your feet or he may just sneak up behind you and suddenly you realize he is there.
And to any guys reading this, you are really out of my depth so I don't know what to say to you other than listen to your parents. They are smarter than you may think.

The End

P.S. Even if you are single Valentines day is a great day to focus on the other special people in your life. Your family for instance. Remind them that you love them and do something special for them. I mean, why waste a chance to celebrate something. There is a holiday so let's do something with it :):)

Are you doing anything special for Valentines Day?  Do you think that we can use any of the "old fashioned" approach to romance?

Senior Pictures, Graduations, etc...

Hi Everyone!!!
I am sorry I haven't posted in a really long time. A lot has been going on around here so blogging has been kind of low on the priority list. I am however working on writing (and I mean writing. so there will be a lot more words than I normally post)  a special post for tomorrow :):)
Last week I took my friend, Lacy's, senior pictures. We had a lot of fun together taking pictures while getting stared at by all the people on their way home from school :) Here are some of my favorite pictures that we got.

Last week my sister graduated from highschool!! To celebrate this great event we had a large 50's themed pizza party. Lots of people came in 50's clothing. Hannah played an awesome fiddle song, received her diploma and gave a speech. We played several 50's era games and had pizza and root beer floats. All and all we had a grand time!!
This is Elli getting ready for the party
Hannah, Lacy and I in our 50's outfits.
On Tuesday we went on a chilly picnic with my grandparents.
 Leftover balloons.
Elianna got a call from her mommy the other day. It was so cute watching her talk on the phone. She didn't realize she was talking to mom even though mom was standing right there. Elli was pretty convinced she was talking to Minnie Mouse ;)
These are a few of my favorite things!!

Musical Monday

I LOVE this version of Amazing Grace.
The movie clips are from the movie Amazing Grace (surprise, surprise). If you haven't seen it, you should. It is really good and pretty much historically accurate. Also it stars Ioan Gruffud which is great :)

Walk for Life, 365 Pictures, etc.

Hi Y'all
My dear brother has been kindly reminding me that I haven't posted anything in a while and that he was tired of seeing the same thing every time he looked at my blog :)
We have had a lot of fun things going on and a routine has yet to find me ;)
Last weekend we went to the West Coast Walk for Life in San Fransisco with some families from our church. The day before the walk we went exploring in San Fransisco with some of our friends. It had been eight years since I was there last so I thought it was very exciting. It was worth getting awakened at 5:30 in the morning :/;)

We found this little Irish import store on Pier 39. The lady working there even had a thick Irish accent!! :):)
This is the bakery where we ate lunch. Apparently they are world famous for their sourdough.

The Walk for Life started on the Civic Center Plaza. I have NEVER seen so many people in one place!! I am so glad we were all wearing matching shirts!!!

Since we couldn't hear the main speakers Dad reminded us why the cause we were there for was so important.
This is all of us together!! It was awesome to be there with so many wonderful people :):)
The walk went great. The opposition was minimal and I think we made a point to the bystanders. And we didn't loose anyone which was great!! ;)

What Has Been Happening

Good Evening, y'all!! It has been a busy week here at the Cox household!! But it has been busy in the very  best sense of the word :) At the beginning of the week two of my friends and I donated our hair to Locks of Love. It was alot of fun to get new hairstyles and support a great cause.

Later in the week  our dear friends, the Gindorfs, spent two days with us. We had a wonderful time with them.  Lot's of late nights, old stories and good fellowship. And our time together is never complete without at least one photo shoot :):)

This is our really sad attempt at a heart :/ ;)

We were very sad to see them leave but we look forward to spending more time with them in the near future ;)

My photography project is coming along fine. I am mostly trying to get into a habit of having my camera with me all the time and trying to see things in a new perspective. Speaking of seeing things from a new perspective, the 1000 Gifts challenge has really opened my eyes to all the things around me that I have to be thankful for. And not so much the things I have discovered but also reading what those who are doing it with me are thankful for is also really cool.

How has your new year been thus far? Do you have a favorite activity with friends?
